NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Canadian-born Lou Jacobi, a comedic actor who also took dramatic turns, died in New York at the age of 95, a social worker said.
Leonie Nowitz, who cared for Jacobi during his last years, said the actor who played in both the film and stage versions of "The Diary of Anne Frank" died in his Manhattan home of unspecified causes Friday, The New York Times reported Sunday.
In addition to performing in the 1955 "Diary" stage production and the corresponding 1959 movie, Jacobi appeared in Broadway shows such as Woody Allen's "Don't Drink the Water" and Neil Simon's "Come Blow Your Horn."
In the film industry, Jacobi had roles in the 1981 comedy "Arthur," 1982's "My Favorite Year" and "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex" in 1972.
His last film appearance was in the 1994 comedy "I.Q.," while his Broadway career ended in 1978 with the comedy "Cheaters."
The Times said Jacobi is survived by a brother and a sister.
