NEW YORK, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Film director David Fincher has signed on to be executive producer of the new U.S. television series "House of Cards," Media Rights Capital announced Thursday.
Based on the acclaimed British mini-series and political novel of the same title, "House of Cards" is to be adapted as a one-hour television drama produced by Media Rights Capital. Executive producing along with Fincher are Josh Donen, Eric Roth, Andrew Davies and Michael Dobbs.
"The new drama will maintain the themes of the mini-series and novel as it delves into political ambition, crisis, networking and blackmail," MRC said in a news release Thursday.
"David Fincher, whose body of work speaks for itself, is sure to put an unforgettable stamp on the celebrated British series," said MRC Chief Executive Officer Modi Wiczyk.
Fincher's film credits include "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Fight Club" and "Seven," all of which starred Brad Pitt.
