JUCHEN, Germany, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- U.S. film actor Kevin Costner said he was excited to see his band Modern West sold out its kick-off concert in Germany.

Speaking to the sold-out audience of 700 in Juchen, Germany, Monday, the "Field of Dreams" actor thanked everyone for coming and joked with the men in the audience, People magazine reported Saturday.

"I wasn't sure if anyone would come, but I'd like to thank you and your town," Costner, 54, said. "If you got dragged here by your wives or girlfriends, I'm sorry."

Unidentified local critics gave Costner and Modern West positive marks and labeled the band's sound as country-infused rock.
