LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Parker Posey has joined the cast of the dark comedy "Highland Park," which director Andrew Meieran says is bringing jobs to Michigan.
Meieran said his new movie, in which Posey will play the mayor of Highland Park, Mich., will greatly the city and state, in particular the city's McGregor Library that was shut down in 2002, The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.
"We're excited to have the opportunity to be a part of bringing jobs to Michigan and the revival of Highland Park and the McGregor Library," Meieran said. "The efforts of Raleigh Michigan Studios to re-invigorate the local economies were one of the inspirations for the film."
In addition to directing the Bureau of Moving Pictures comedy, Meieran will simultaneously be directing a documentary about the Michigan city and the attempts to restore the library.
Posey, who has appeared in "Broken English" and "Superman Returns," will co-star in "Park" with Danny Glover.
