NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Lindsay Lohan's mother is denying her ex-husband's claim the family is planning an intervention to help get the U.S. starlet off prescription pills.

The former child actress, whose film credits include "The Parent Trap" and "Mean Girls," has been better known in recent years for her legal woes, trips to rehab and public spats with her on-off girlfriend, Samantha Ronson. Her father said this week she is battling an addiction to prescription drugs and the family is banding together to help her stop.

"I don't go -- like my ex -- on national television and make things up. He's estranged from Lindsay; he doesn't know what's going on in her life. Michael doesn't talk to her," Dina Lohan told the New York Post.

"I've had full custody of all my children for the last 10 years. He has been incarcerated for some of that time, so whatever is going on in Lindsay's personal life is our business."

Asked if Lindsay is addicted to prescription drugs, Dina told the Post: "I have no idea what he is talking about. I can't comment on everything my ex says."

Dina also asked that those who dislike her daughter to remember the actress is young and to keep their opinions to themselves.

"Leave Lindsay alone. Let her be a real 23-year-old. Let her grow, and let her artistic abilities flourish. Stop judging the Britneys and the Lindsays. They are very creative girls, and that is a gift from a higher power of God," Dina said.
