Taylor says heart procedure went well

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- British-born actress Elizabeth Taylor said in a Twitter posting Thursday night that this week's heart procedure went well.

Taylor, 77, announced Tuesday she was going to have the operation.

"My heart procedure went off perfectly," Usmagazine.com quoted her as Tweeting Thursday night. "It's like having a brand-new ticker. Thank you for your prayers and good wishes. I know they all helped."

The two-time Oscar-winning actress is best known for her roles in the films "National Velvet," "Giant," "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Butterfield 8" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
