(UPI) -- The Smashing Pumpkings front man Billy Corgan looks set to acquire one of America's top wrestling promoters, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
Corgan is known to be an avid wrestling fan and various media has reported that the 46 year old of rock star fame is thought to be deep in negotiations with TNA, though it is unclear what percentage of the company he would own.
Corgan is currently an investor in Resistance Pro, a Chicago-based pro wrestling company. Lissa Christman, a spokeswoman for Resistance Pro, said of the rumored move: "There is no reason to comment on rumors. Billy is completely focused on Resistance Pro's upcoming second anniversary on November 23."
William Patrick "Billy" Corgan Jr. is most famous for his time in popular rock band the Smashing Pumpkins. The Smashing Pumpkins music style has been described by Corgan as "gloomy little goth-pop records." The group broke up in 2000 but then in 2005 Corgan relaunched the group with drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.
