Speck Mellancamp, the son of singer John Mellancamp, turned himself in to police in Monroe County, Ind., Friday and was charged with felony battery.
The 18-year-old was accused of beating a 19-year-old as the victim sat on his front porch. Speck's brother, Hud Mellancamp, 19, and friend Ty Smith were also accomplices in the alleged beatdown.
The victim said the Mellancamps and Smith approached him July 29 as he was sitting not the porch of his home. The three teens were going home from party and Speck though the victim had punched him at the party, the victim told police.
Speck threw the first punch and the other two teens joined, stomping and kicking the victim, the victim said.
Smith, the son of Indiana University baseball coach Tracy Smith, also surrendered to police.
Speck and Smith were released on $5,000 bail. Hud was expected to surrender to authorities Saturday.
