Ronda Rousey: Coaching UFC's 'Ultimate Fighter' was 'emotionally taxing'

UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey said during a recent Facebook chat that coaching the 18th season of UFC reality show, "The Ultimate Fighter," is more "emotionally taxing" than she thought it would be.

“It’s a lot more work than I thought it would be, and it’s a lot more emotionally taxing than I thought it would be," the 26-year-old mixed-martial artist and former Olympian said.

You care a lot about these kids. I just felt like any kind of heartbreak or triumph, whatever they’re going through, I share in it. It’s exhausting going through that over and over and over with every competitor. You’re just so emotionally invested in every person that it really takes a lot out of you.

"TUF's" 18th season is the first to feature female coaches and the first to film male and female fighters under one roof.

But UFC President Dana White admitted that tension between Rousey and her arch-rival, Miesha Tate, was causing problems on set.

“Miesha and Ronda hate each other,” White told reporters earlier this month. “It’s like literally crazy drama every day.”

Despite the "emotional" trajectory of the season, Rousey said "TUF 18" has plenty of talent.

“The talent is great. I’m really impressed with the kind of people that we saw on the show this season for the girls and the guys. All of the fights have been really exciting. Really, it has exceeded my expectations," she said.
