June 27 (UPI) -- Newly re-engaged non-meat-eaters Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have been named the sexiest celebrity vegetarians by PETA's annual online poll.

As it happened, the meatless couple weren't nominated as a pair -- each beat out a slew of other famous veggies for the crown.

Bell beat out Anne Hathaway, Edie Falco, Kristen Wiig, Rooney Mara, Portia De Rossi and Jenna Dewan Tatum. Shepard triumphed over Peter Dinklage, Jared Leto, Johnny Galecki, Woody Harrelson, and even former President Bill Clinton.

"I had a hard time disassociating the animals I cuddled with -- dogs and cats, for example -- from the animals on my plate, and I never really cared for the taste of meat," said Bell, who went vegetarian in high school and is now a vegan. "I always loved my Brussels sprouts!"

Bell also convinced Shepard, who first became a vegetarian in 2012 after watching the documentary "Forks Over Knives," to follow suit.

"I have fewer body aches," he said. "My skin looks better. I'm never starving, and I never need to ride the couch feeling completely full and disgusting."

The couple, who are also gay rights allies, became re-engaged after the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act Wednesday and welcomed daughter Lincoln three months ago.

They are the first couple to win PETA's.
