Actor and rocker Jared Leto is hardly recognizable on the cover of Candy magazine, where he appears -- beautifully -- in a short pink wig, cherry red lipstick and long, false eyelashes.

The magazine, which covers "transversal style," has already had James Franco, Chloë Sevigny and Andrej Pejic dress in drag for cover photos. But gender bending celebs aren't the only covers to garner headlines for Candy.

In Decemeber last year, Candy put transgender model Connie Fleming on its cover styled to invoke First Lady Michelle Obama swearing in on a Bible.

Described on her website as "one of New York's most influential transvestite, drag, and transgendered performers," Fleming shot to prominence on the fledgling magazine's iconic cover.

Publisher Luis Venegas said at the time that he was inspired by the idea that one day a black, transsexual woman could be president.

"I remember back in early 2007 when the Democratic Party’s nominees were narrowed down between two "controversial" stereotypes never before seen for presidency: a black man, Barack Obama; and a woman, Hillary Rodham Clinton. At that time, I thought, 'when will the time come when these archaic walls break down and the White House will be occupied by, for example, a black, transsexual woman?'"

Leto recently dabbled in cross-dressing for his upcoming indie film "The Dallas Buyers Club," in which he plays a transsexual with AIDS in the 1980s. It will be the 30 Seconds to Mars star's first film in five years.
