Justin Bieber is having something of a rough month, but his pal Carly Rae Jepsen is coming to his defense.

After several run-ins with the law, Justin Bieber's lousy few weeks were topped off by a low-blow from Kid Rock, who compared Bieber to Vanilla Ice and said the pop star was in for a "very long ride down."

But Jepsen brushed aside the controversies surrounding her friend and sometime-tour mate.

"People are constantly like, 'Is Justin OK?' I've not really noticed any of that," she said. "I actually am so out of the loop on any of that, to be honest."

"I feel like Justin's a guy who's working hard every day, and I think the media can sometimes be a little brutal with stuff and over-exaggerate things," she said. "But I stand by him. I support him. I think he's a good guy, and he's doing the best he can."

Jepsen has a full schedule of tours for the summer and is preparing to head into the studio to work on her sophomore album, a follow-up to 2012's "Kiss."
