Ex-Journey singer Steve Perry undergoes cancer surgery

Former Journey frontman Steve Perry is recovering from surgery to remove a cancerous mole on his right cheek.

The mole was removed three weeks ago, and test results found it came back positive for melanoma. Perry had to undergo two procedures to rid his skin of all of the cancer cells.

Perry wrote that doctors told him they think they removed all the cancer cells. No further treatment will be necessary.

The 64-year-old is left with just a scar on his cheek, but the cancer was especially scary, as his girlfriend of two years died of bone, breast and lung cancer in December.
