CHICAGO, March 18 (UPI) -- Ivan, one of two 8-week-old puppies Oprah Winfrey adopted from PAWS Chicago this month, has died, a spokeswoman for Winfrey's Harpo Productions said.

The representative told the Chicago Tribune that Ivan, a blond-colored cocker spaniel who appeared on the March 6 edition of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," died of the parvo virus late last week.

Ivan was from the same litter as Sadie, another cocker puppy Winfrey recently adopted and introduced to the audience on a live program.

The Tribune noted Winfrey has been a longtime supporter of PAWS, highlighting the agency during a series of 2008 shows about puppy mills and pet overpopulation, and financing a pet room at the shelter.
