Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Bette Midler is doing "fine" after falling during a Hello, Dolly! performance.

The 71-year-old actress reassured fans in a tweet Thursday evening after taking an onstage tumble during the Broadway show.

"You may hear I was in a little accident on stage tonight; two set pieces collided, I had to make a run for it, and I fell. But I'm fine," she wrote to her 1.2 million followers.

PIX11 reported the set malfunction occurred just before intermission. Audience members reacted to the incident on social media as Midler and the cast took a longer-than-usual interval.

"An hour into @HelloDollyBway & a tech snafu has just led 2 the amazing @BetteMidler topping off a moving platform," music critic Todd Simmons tweeted. "A literal show stopper."

Midler's publicist issued a statement saying, "All is OK. Bette stumbled. She's fine!" The actress returned after intermission to resume her performance as usual.

"She is amazing. Back on stage like a champ to thunderous applause!" one theatergoer tweeted.

Hello, Dolly! marks Midler's first Broadway show since the 1967 production of Fiddler on the Roof. She plays the title character, Dolly Gallagher Levi, in the revival of Jerry Herman's musical.
