June 28 (UPI) -- Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki's large California ranch burned down Monday in a massive wildfire.

The actor is safe and was not present at the time of the fire. The property is located in San Luis Obispo which rests between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The fire is said to be 40 percent contained with Galecki's ranch and other properties destroyed within the 1,200-acre fire, TMZ reported.

Galecki has yet to visit the property but will do so once the fire is completely contained, a rep for the 42-year-old confirmed to Variety.

"My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile," Galecki said in a statement.

"It's never the structures that create a community -- it's the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it's that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it's a time to reach out and rebuild. We've done it before, and will need to do it together again, and it will make our community even closer and stronger. Endless thanks to CalFire and the Sheriff's Office. I know you guys are fighting the good fight to keep us safe. So very relieved no one has been hurt," he continued.

Galecki is best known for portraying Dr. Leonard Hofstadter on The Big Bang Theory. CBS renewed the comedy in March for two more seasons, keeping the series on television through the 2018-19 season.
