June 28 (UPI) -- Bella Hadid is in a "happy" place more than six months after her split from The Weeknd.

The 20-year-old model said in the August issue of InStyle that she's enjoying single life following her highly-publicized breakup with the 27-year-old singer.

"When you're happy, you want to eat and experience and enjoy life. I'm there! And I'm eating, and I'm living! And I've gained a couple pounds, but I'm good!" she told the magazine.

Hadid and The Weeknd called it quits in November after nearly two years of dating. The model said in a Teen Vogue article in February that she'll "always love" The Weeknd, who has since started dating actress Selena Gomez.

"As an outsider, you might think I handled it well, but it's always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily," she said of the split. "It'll be hard for a while. Love hurts, but you have to pull through."

"I'll always respect him, and I'll always love him," the star added. "Sometimes you want to be sad about it or handle it differently, but at the end of the day, you never want to burn a bridge that you've fought so hard to build."

Hadid told InStyle she is instead focused on her modeling career. She won't follow mom and former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid into reality TV, but did express an interest in acting.

"I'm not sure I could be on reality TV," the model confessed. "It's nothing against them -- love them, bless their hearts. But I think I'm going to stick with modeling for now,"

"People think that I don't smile and I'm super cold," she later added. "With acting you can show more of who you are. I would have to get a hold of my ADD, but otherwise I think it would be fun."
