June 12 (UPI) -- The world of Dragonball Z comes alive in a new three-on-three fighting game unveiled at E3 2017, Dragon Ball Fighterz.

The title from Arc System Works, the developers behind fighting game franchise Guilty Gear, captures the look and feel of the long-running anime series with a flashy 2D art style and lighting-fast combat.

A gameplay trailer, released during Microsoft's Xbox E3 press conference, features main protagonist Goku taking on the likes of Frieza along with looks at other Dragonball Z mainstays such as Vegeta, Cell, Gohan and Majin Buu.

Frieza's new golden transformation along with Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form also appear in the trailer, along with iconic moments from the series such as Gohan delivering a finishing Kamehameha wave to Cell with help from Goku.

Playable stages on display included planet Namek, the World Tournament arena and a desert landscape among others.

"Arc System Works delivers an explosive, action-packed game that combines classic 2D fighting with advanced 3D character models that look and feel as if they are ripped straight out of the Dragon Ball series," reads a synopsis.

Dragon Ball Fighterz is expected to release on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC in early 2018.
