April 26 (UPI) -- Mom-to-be Serena Williams says she accidentally announced her pregnancy.

The 35-year-old tennis pro admitted Tuesday at a Ted Talks conference that she didn't mean to share the baby bump photo that confirmed she's expecting with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

"Well, actually it was an accident," Williams confessed, according to People. "I was on vacation just taking some time for myself and I have this thing where I've been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I'm going."

"On social media, you press the wrong button and..." she explained. "Thirty minutes later I missed four calls and I'm like, 'That's weird.' But it was a good moment. I was only going to wait five or six more days [to share]."

Williams sent the public into a frenzy April 19 by posting a picture of herself on Snapchat with the caption "20 weeks." She quickly deleted the snapshot, but later confirmed the news and shared another baby bump photo.

"My Dearest Baby, You gave me the strength I didn't know I had," the star wrote Monday in an Instagram post. "You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can't wait to meet you."
