March 28 (UPI) -- Val Kilmer says there was "nothing in the least creepy" about his recent tweets praising Cate Blanchett.

The 57-year-old American actor responded to criticism Saturday after gushing about the 47-year-old Australian actress, who co-starred with him in the 2003 movie The Missing, in a series of posts on Twitter.

"Nothing in the least creepy about loving someone. What kind of world do you come from?" he wrote to a fan who said, "You're being super creepy and obsessive now let it go eh."

Kilmer had shared a story Friday about how he reportedly once flew to Australia to speak to Blanchett. He followed up by calling the actress "amazing" and "so real it's almost unreal" in tweets the next day.

"Once I flew all the way to Australia just to talk to Cate Blanchett. Her husband met me first. Or, instead, I guess, to be accurate," the star wrote Friday.

"She's just as amazing in person," he said Saturday. "Some super stars aren't-Some superstars don't do a thing to ya in person-Cate is so real it's almost unreal."

"Once I did a cameo just to hang w/ #cateblanchett who pickd up a shovel in our sc. I was so dazzled by HOW she picked it up I forgot my line," the actor added.

Kilmer posted several other since-deleted tweets, including one that said, "And recently I've had 2 dreams with #CateBlanchett in them. Her husband wasn't in either of them," according to People. Blanchett married Andrew Upton in 1997, and shares four children with the Australian playwright.
