Oscar nominee Mahershala Ali and wife welcome their first child

Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Moonlight standout Mahershala Ali, the frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar Sunday, is a first-time father.

The actor posted on Instagram Friday a sweet photo of his wife Amatus holding and kissing their newborn in a hospital room.

He captioned the photo: "Bari (Bar-ee) Najma Ali 2/22/17 #pisces."

Ali is a cast member of two Best Picture Oscar nominees this year. Along with Moonlight, his movie Hidden Figures is also up for Hollywood's top honor.
