NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Lady Gaga says she and Taylor Kinney have stayed close since ending their engagement.

The 30-year-old singer revealed on Monday's episode of The Howard Stern Show that she and the 35-year-year-old actor still "support" and "love" each other despite their split in July after five years of dating.

"I'm actually very close to Taylor," Lady Gaga told host Howard Stern. "He's been my lover and my friend for a really long time. He's been so supportive of the [new] album [Joanne] and I support him on his show, Chicago Fire."

"I hate to sound like a hippie, but I kind of am one and so is he. We love each other, that's it. It's just about life changes, and we all go through different stages and we're focused on different things," she explained.

"To be fair, I think that Taylor's pretty [expletive] cool that over the years, no matter what creative transformation that I've gone through, he's always been very supportive of that and loving," the star added.

Lady Gaga and Kinney met on the set of the singer's "You and I" music video in 2011 and got engaged in 2015. Word of the couple's split broke in July, although Lady Gaga later told fans that she and the actor were "taking a break."

"Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates," she said at the time. "We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue to share the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on."

Lady Gaga released Joanne, her fifth studio album, on Tuesday. She confirmed the same day that she will perform at the 2016 American Music Awards on Nov. 20.
