LOS ANGELES, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Ryan Lochte has taken to social media to announce his engagement to girlfriend Kayla Rae Reid. "Memories forever!!! #thelochtes #LA," the Olympic swimmer wrote on Instagram Sunday alongside a photo of the couple sharing a passionate kiss as Reid displayed a new diamond ring.

In a separate Instagram post, the Playboy model shared a similar looking photo writing, "Speechless. Absolutely beautiful. So in love with YOU."
Lochte and Reid were first linked together back in January after meeting at a Los Angeles nightclub.
In an interview with USA Today, Lochte explained how he decided to propose to Reid after she stayed by his side during his recent Summer Olympics controversy in which the Dancing with the Stars star fabricated a story about being pulled over and held at gunpoint while in Rio.
"When I realized this was 'the one' was when she stuck behind me through this. She still loves me and she's still right there with me," he said.
