CLEVELAND, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Dean Ambrose was afforded his rematch against AJ Styles for the WWE World Title Tuesday on Smackdown Live.

The two competitors met in the ring during the main event of the night as their No Mercy opponent John Cena witnessed the action from ringside as he joined the announcers table.

The back-and-fourth contest came to head after Styles decided to sucker punch Cena after he had gained control of the match.

Enraged, Cena stormed the ring but inadvertently cost Ambrose the championship as the referee was then distracted by Cena and therefore unable to count out Styles who was being pinned by The Lunatic Fringe for over three seconds.

Ambrose then himself attacked Cena outside the ring, giving Styles the opportunity he needed to grab his opponent by the tights and pin him for the three count. Afterwards Cena laid out both Styles and Ambrose with an Attitude Adjustment for payback.

The trio will meet again in a Triple Threat match for the WWE World Title on Oct. 9 at No Mercy.

Also on Smackdown Live, Intercontinental champion The Miz held a special homecoming celebration to mark his return to his hometown of Cleveland.

After declaring that he was the town's true champion over NBA star LeBron James and presenting a retrospective video on his career, The Miz was confronted by his rival and fellow Cleveland native, Dolph Ziggler.

Ziggler who has been on a losing streak and has lost twice to The Miz recently, challenged the self-proclaimed A-lister to one more match for the Intercontinental Championship. After initially refusing, The Miz then accepted his challenge after Ziggler put his career on the line as well.

The Miz will now meet Ziggler once again in a career vs. title match at No Mercy.
