LOS ANGELES, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- Scheduling conflicts have forced original Star Wars: Rogue One composer Alexandre Desplat to bow out of the project; Michael Giacchino will take his place.

The new Star Wars project is being forced to reshoot scenes which has altered the post-production time frame, and Desplat's schedule couldn't accommodate the additional five weeks of shooting.

Disney has replaced Desplat with Giacchino who has worked with Disney in the past.

Giacchino's credits include Pixar's The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Up, for which he won an Oscar, and has composed music for the Star Tours attraction at Disney Parks.

Giacchino also played a stormtrooper in The Force Awakens.

Rogue One, which takes place cinematically before the events in the original Star Wars, is set to hit theaters on Dec. 16.
