LAS VEGAS, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Former WWE Superstar Ryback, real name Ryan Reeves, has detailed how he turned down a $1.5 million contract to stay with the WWE.

"Not about a money issue, just so everybody knows," Ryback said explaining why he decided to exit the sports-entertainment giant earlier this year during the first episode of his new podcast, Conversation with the Big Guy.

"I walked away from the WWE, the contract offer that I walked away from was a three-year $1.5 million contract," he continued, confirming the large amount of money he left behind.

According to the former Intercontinental Champion, his reasons for leaving the WWE stemmed from his frustration regarding storyline plans for his character and how he had been lied to by chairman and CEO Vince McMahon who in Ryback's words, promised him that he would "squash that little twerp" AJ Styles in a match at WrestleMania 32.

Despite his unceremonious exit, Ryback believes he is not burning bridges with the company and is thankful for his time there.

Ryback formally announced he was leaving WWE on social media noting in a video, "The Big Guy Ryback would like to wish the WWE the best in their future endevours. From this point forward, myself and the WWE will no longer be conducting business together. I would like to personally say thank you to all the WWE performers whom I've had the pleasure of being in the ring with."
