LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk is writing a comedic memoir full of personal essays.

Random House announced Wednesday that it's publishing Odenkirk's first book, which doesn't yet have a title or release date.

Odenkirk, who is best known for his role as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and its spinoff, Better Call Saul, will give readers a comedic insight into his life and career -- from his time at Chicago's Second City to Saturday Night Live to his Emmy-winning portrayal as McGill/Goodman.

"[The book] will be a comic 'bildungsroman,' if you will -- defined by Webster's Dictionary as 'a novel about the moral and psychological growth of the main character,' -- except this will be more memoir and the main character, Bob Odenkirk (actor, writer, comedian, gadabout), doesn't grow morally or psychologically," Odenkirk said in a statement.

Random House executive director Ben Greenberg said the book aims to shed some light on Odenkirk's depth of talent.

"This book will give Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fans who might not know Bob's past life a look at the remarkable writer and comedic mind hiding just beneath that character," Greenberg said in a statement.
