"My neighbors & I have flooded in Baton Rouge. I am reminded of the generosity given to my family during Katrina. Now we will care for you," Pierce tweeted.

Pierce told TMZ that he "lost everything."

The flooding has claimed the lives of at least eight people, though officials warn the death toll will likely be higher once the waters recede.

Pierce, a native of Louisiana, has been active in charities across the state following the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

He is best known for his roles in The Wire, Treme, Waiting to Exhale and Suits.
