LOS ANGELES, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Cindy Crawford and daughter Kaia Gerber are opening up about their shared love of modeling.

The 50-year-old model spoke to Gerber for the September issue of Teen Vogue and discussed the 14-year-old's burgeoning modeling career in the interview.

"You're so much more confident than I was!" Crawford lauded. "I didn't start modeling until I was nearly 17. You have a sense of what feels right for you. I don't worry about you staying true to yourself."

"I'm excited you understand what I've done most of my life," she added. "I look back and appreciate it all -- traveling, connecting with people through photography. You're having fun but also learning that it's hard work."

Gerber made her modeling debut for Versace at 10 years old and signed a contract with IMG Models at age 13 in July 2015. She and her supermodel mom shared the April cover of Vogue Paris.

"It has given me the chance to meet such incredible people," Gerber said of modeling. "Living in Malibu is like being in a bubble, so discovering others that are so different from me has been incredibly gratifying."

"When I look at my mom, aside from physical features (of course), we share many of the same mannerisms," she remarked. "I don't know if it's genetic, or something I've caught onto, but our actions mimic one another."

Gerber, who landed her first fashion campaign in February, was recently photographed by fellow model Kendall Jenner for Love magazine. The teenager said in the accompanying article that working with the 20-year-old star was "effortless."

"It just felt like two friends hanging out, snapping a few photos at candid moments," she shared. "Kendall told me that my mom is one of the people she looks up to most, and it's cool to see it come full circle because Kendall is that role model for me."

Crawford shares Gerber and 17-year-old son Presley with husband Rande Gerber, whom she married in 1998. The supermodel recently teamed with Pepsi to recreate her iconic 1992 soda ad.
