'Bachelorette' finale: JoJo Fletcher is engaged

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher is off the market.

The reality TV star announced in Monday's finale that she and contestant Jordan Rodgers are engaged.

For Fletcher, the choice was between Rodgers and Robby Hayes, who scored big with Fletcher's family.

Fletcher's mom said that Hayes was more "husband material." And, despite communicating the importance to Rodgers, Hayes was the only one to ask Fletcher's father for permission to propose.

"I'll be honest, it's been difficult," Fletcher said on The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose. "I think the hardest part has been, you know, my entire life I've envisioned getting engaged and having this moment where everybody can see the love that you have for one another and that there's this overwhelming amount of positivity and support."

Rodgers quickly reached out to Fletcher's family to ask for their blessing which landed him on one knee and a Neil Lane diamond on Fletcher's left hand.

Though it hasn't been an easy road for the couple, they both insist that they're still going strong and taking on the challenges of this next phase of their relationship together.

"It all goes back to when I got down on one knee," Rodgers said . "I promised on that day that no matter what life throws at us, we're going to get over that."
