Shonda Rhimes documents Hillary Clinton's life and career in DNC film

PHILADELPHIA, July 29 (UPI) -- Shonda Rhimes produced a biographical short film about Hillary Clinton which documented her life and career for use at the Democratic National Convention.

The clip, entitled Hillary, aired at the event Thursday and featured the presidential hopeful discussing her mother's influence on her life and why she has chosen to serve as president of the United States.

"There is more then enough of the American dream to go around," Clinton says in the video while sitting down inside her kitchen. "If we are committed to growing it, nurturing it, passing it on to our children and our grandchildren, I can't think of anything more thrilling then being a part of that."

The documentary also featured narration from Morgan Freeman, interviews with current and former president Barrack Obama and Bill Clinton and from 9/11 survivors whom Clinton helped following the tragic event.

Rhimes, the noted creator, writer and producer of hit dramas Scandal and Grey's Anatomy, created the short alongside her producing partner Betsy Beers. The television powerhouse has previously produced ad campaigns for the Democratic nominee.

"As a writer who builds characters for a living, it was exciting to take an actual human being and pieces of who she is and see how it builds a person and her character, why she is who she is," Rhimes said of creating Hillary in an interview with People magazine. "Given the Trumpiness of the world today, we felt like we were doing the work of angels," she continued, referencing Republican nominee Donald Trump.

"And the best part? I didn't have to add a plot twist!"
