LOS ANGELES, July 29 (UPI) -- Amy Schumer and John Oliver have responded to Lorelai Gilmore after the character mentioned the comedians in the first trailer for "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."

In the clip released Wednesday, mother-daughter pair Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) discuss how they might get along with Schumer and Oliver.

"Do you think Amy Schumer would like me?" Lorelai asks.

Rory responds no, saying: "every single time I see her on vacation in a magazine she's doing water sports."

"I've only done 2 water sports and they took pictures of it both times. I promise I usually just lay there (sex too)," Schumer wrote on Twitter. The actress would later tweet "I would love her," referencing the iconic television mother.

During the same conversation, Lorelai also asked Rory if she thinks Oliver would find her hot. The fictional character got her answer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as the Last Week Tonight host declared, "Lorelai, the answer is yes I do find you hot and I'll tell you why. I'm a red-blooded male with an inbuilt heat detector."

"And my heat detector registers you as en fuego," he continued, gesturing to his groin.
