Kate Middleton and Prince William's son George turns 3

LONDON, July 22 (UPI) -- Britain's Kensington Palace marked Prince George's birthday with a flurry of photos of the 3-year-old royal Friday.

George is the elder child of Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton. The couple also has a 1-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte.

"Here are some new photos of Prince George on his 3rd birthday!" the palace tweeted, along with an image of the boy wearing a blue and beige striped sweater with a whale on it and khaki shorts.

Other pictures showed the prince smiling, while standing on a tree swing with his parents' names on it and sitting on a blanket outside with his dog.

"The Duke and Duchess thank everyone for all the lovely birthday messages they have received for Prince George," the palace also tweeted.

"Can't believe it's been three years already!" read another post.

Matt Porteous recently took the snapshots at the Duke and Duchess's family home in Norfolk.
