Peta Murgatroyd, Maksim Chmerkovskiy confirm they're expecting

LOS ANGELES, June 29 (UPI) -- Peta Murgatroyd and fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy are expecting their first child.

The 29-year-old Australian Dancing with the Stars pro confirmed as much Wednesday, more than a month after some media first reported her pregnancy.

"We couldn't be happier," she captioned a photo on Twitter of Chmerkovskiy kissing her baby bump. "Baby Chmerkovskiy is coming."

Murgatroyd told People she learned she was expecting early on in Dancing with the Stars Season 22. The mom-to-be said she was "so sick" as she filmed the ABC reality competition.

"I'm looking forward to nurturing something and just having the baby be the center of our world," she added of their growing family. "I'm looking forward to putting all our energy into this beautiful soul."

"I can't wait to provide this baby with the tools to become a beautiful, kind person," Chmerkovskiy said. "And they'll have the best sneaker collection."

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy, a 36-year-old American dancer, got engaged in December. The couple expect their baby to be born in January 2017 and plan to marry that summer.

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy met on Dancing with the Stars in 2011. Murgatroyd has competed on nine seasons of the series, while Chmerkovskiy left the show in 2014 after 14 seasons.
