BURBANK, Calif., June 29 (UPI) -- Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has delayed their remastered collection of top-selling Batman video games, Batman: Return to Arkham.

"After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuous Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience," wrote the publisher Tuesday on the official Arkham Knight forums.

"We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready. We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans," they continued noting that the title will miss its orginally announced July 26 release date.

First revealed in May for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, Return to Arkham was to include commercial and critical hits Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City with "improved graphics, as well as upgraded models, environments, lighting, effects and shaders."

Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, originally released in 2009 and 2011, has players take on the role of Batman as he deals with a collection of his most dangerous foes including The Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Penguin, Scarecrow and many more.

Outside of Return to Arkham, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment also announced during Sony's E3 2016 conference a new virtual reality title, Batman: Arkham VR that allows players to "experience Gotham City through the eyes of the World's Greatest Detective."
