NEW YORK, June 7 (UPI) -- Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon are to star in a new Broadway production of Lillian Hellman's play The Little Foxes, directed by Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan.

Linney and Nixon will alternate in the roles of Regina Hubbard Giddens and Birdie Hubbard, "both members of a strong-willed aristocratic Southern family," the Manhattan Theatre Club said Tuesday.

"The actresses will play the roles in repertory, appearing opposite each other at each performance."

The limited engagement of the 1900 play, set in Alabama, about greed and ambition will begin previews on March 29 and will open April 19 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Additional casting, creative team and performance schedule for The Little Foxes will be announced at a later date, the company said.
