STAMFORD, Conn., May 31 (UPI) -- Retired professional wrestler Goldberg is back in the first teaser for publisher 2K sports upcoming video game, WWE 2K17.

The clip, released Monday, features the former two-time World Heavyweight Champion emerging from a locked facility where he is escorted away by a group of police officers marching to the beat of his iconic theme song.

The live-action footage is reminiscent of Goldberg's signature ring entrance which would include the star being escorted to the ring by a security team accompanied by an explosion of fireworks.

The WWE 2K series has brought back former WWE Superstars in the past, notably The Ultimate Warrior in 2013 and Sting in 2014.

Both Sting and The Ultimate Warrior eventually were seen once again inside a WWE ring after the game's release, leading many fans to believe that Goldberg could be making a live appearance on WWE programming soon.

Rising to fame during the 1990s, Goldberg was one of rival promotion WCW's biggest stars before WWE bought out the company in 2001. Goldberg made his debut in WWE in 2003 confronting The Rock and was last seen battling Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in 2004.

Goldberg will become available as a playable character for those who pre-order WWE 2K17 which is expected to release later this year on Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
