TERRE HAUTE, Ind., May 26 (UPI) -- Gucci Mane was released from federal prison Thursday after completing most of a 39-month sentence.

The 36-year-old rapper, born Radric Davis, was serving time in an Indiana prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty to the charge in May 2014 and was sentenced to 39 months in August 2014.

Gucci Mane had been in jail since September 2013 for a separate offense when he pleaded guilty to the new charge. His plea deal allowed him to subtract the 10 months he already served from his 39-month sentence.

Gucci Mane's lawyer, Drew Findling, told TMZ the rapper already has a house "outside the city," although it is unclear if he is returning to his previous home of Atlanta, Ga. Sources said the star is already planning his return to music.
