Royal anniversary: 5 moments from Prince William and Kate Middleton's marriage

LONDON, April 29 (UPI) -- Prince William and Kate Middleton, the British royal couple whose romance enchanted the world, celebrated their fifth anniversary Friday.

In the five years since the wedding, the couple have had two children and made dozens of global trips.

There is no news on how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will celebrate the occasion, but Kensington Palace has been posting throwback videos of their marriage on social media.

Five memorable moments from the royal couple's marriage:

1. The nuptials
The wedding, which took place April 29, 2011, was watched by millions around the world. Kate Middleton met her future husband while studying as an art history major at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. The couple were engaged in November 2010 and married less than a year later at Westminster Abbey.

2. Prince George's birth
Little Prince George, the couple's 2-year-old son, was born July 22, 2013. Following his birth, the royal parents took some time outside to be photographed with their newborn.

3. Royal visit to New York City

In 2014, the royal couple visited New York City to attend the St. Andrews 600th Anniversary Dinner and pay their respects to the victims of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

4. Princess Charlotte's birth

Last summer, the couple welcomed Princess Charlotte of Cambridge. The soon-to-be 1-year-old posed for her mother in a pair of photos released by the British Monarchy.

5. Visit from Obama
Last week, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama visited the royal couple in London -- and were introduced to young George.
