LOS ANGELES, March 8 (UPI) -- Lady Gaga is planning a low-key wedding with the help of her family.

The 29-year-old singer said her nuptials to actor Taylor Kinney won't be the over-top-event fans may expect in an interview Monday on On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

"I think if I would have not let my mom do this with all of us and my family -- I think if I would've denied the women in my life this planning of the wedding they would probably kill me," the star shared.

"I have all the help in the world in a way!" she said. "I want a really family-[style] wedding. We're not planning anything that's worth writing about."

Lady Gaga and Kinney have been together since 2011 and got engaged last February. The singer told Extra she and the 34-year-old actor intend to keep their wedding plans secret at the New York premiere of Rock the Kasbah in October.

"For what it's worth, we're just really private in more ways than people probably think," she said. "We don't really know, but we're enjoying being engaged."

Lady Gaga made headlines last week for showing her support for Kesha prior to her emotional performance at the 2016 Oscars. She defended Kesha again in an interview Monday following the singer's claims she was drugged and raped by producer Dr. Luke.

"I feel like she's being very publicly shamed for something that happens in the music industry all the time, to women and men," Lady Gaga told 97.1 AMP. "I just want to stand by her side because I can't watch another woman that went thought what I've been through suffer."

Lady Gaga revealed she was raped by a producer at age 19 in a 2014 interview. The singer co-wrote "Til It Happens To You," which was nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars, for The Hunting Ground, a documentary about campus rape in the U.S.
