LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Rihanna was forced to cancel her 2016 Grammys performance 30 minutes before the awards show began Monday night due to health issues.

According to the singer's rep, her doctor insisted she be put on vocal rest for 48-hours "because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords," due to bronchitis.

"The antibiotics she has been on for 3-days did not kill the infection adequately therefore she cannot perform safely," the rep explained.

Slated to perform her new song "Kiss It Better," at the 58th annual Grammy awards show, Rihanna took to Twitter to apologize to fans about the last-minute cancelation.

"#NAVY so sorry I couldn't be there....." the singer wrote. "Thanks Grammys and CBS for your support tonight."

Rihanna, who released her latest Puma fashion collection at NYFW last week, also dropped her long-awaited eighth album, Anti, last month. She is expected to launch her Anti world tour in late February.
