NEW YORK, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Drita D'Avanzo was arrested for an alleged assault Tuesday in New York.

New York Police Department sources told TMZ the 40-year-old Mob Wives star got in a verbal altercation with a woman on a Staten Island sidewalk that culminated with D'Avanzo punching the person multiple times.

D'Avanzo reportedly fled the scene in her vehicle and was taken into custody after being arrested in a different location. Neither she nor VH1, home to Mob Wives, have commented on the incident.

"She was released from the precinct with a desk appearance ticket with a charge of a misdemeanor assault," the NYPD told Entertainment Tonight. "She must appear back in court on March 9."

D'Avanzo, who once put her hands around co-star Renee Graziano's neck during a fight, posted a screenshot of herself saying, "If everyone's screaming, 'Drita, punch me! Punch me!' I'm gonna [expletive] punch you,'" in January.

D'Avanzo has starred on Mob Wives since its premiere in 2011. The reality series co-stars "Big Ang" Raiola, who is presently battling stage 4 cancer, and returned for a sixth and final season last month. New episodes air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
