MIAMI, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Reality television star Lakatriona Brunson, also known as Bernice on the series South Beach Tow, has been named Florida's first female high school football head coach.

Brunson publicly accepted her new role at Miami Jackson High School Monday, telling reporters she's "just more excited" as she took to the microphone.

"Today is historic not only for Florida, but Miami Jackson," the 38-year-old former student-athlete and physical education teacher said. "After the head coach stepped down, I kinda like took a look and 'Why can't I do it?' and today, it's true."

The reality star, who is also the assistant manager for Tremont Towing in Maimi, will coach alongside former rapper Luther Campbell, who will be the Miami Jackson Generals' defensive coordinator, the Miami Herald reported.

"We're just here to change the atmosphere at Miami Jackson and get some W's on the board," Brunson said. "I know I can do it...Watch what we're going to do . It's some big things coming up."
