LOS ANGELES, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Melissa McCarthy, who played character Sookie in the original Gilmore Girls series, says she wasn't invited back to the Netflix revival of the show.

In response to comments from show creator Amy Sherman-Palladino saying planning around the actress' busy schedule would leave her "sobbing in a corner for six months," McCarthy tweeted she was never asked about her schedule in the first place.

"Thanks for the invite," she tweeted to a fan who begged for her return to the show, "but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!"

The Gilmore Girls Netflix revival will take place in present-day Stars Hollow for four 90-minute episodes.

During her interview, creator Sherman-Palladino said before McCarthy's comments she would "put her right in," if the actress "said she's free on these particular days or would love to drop by and just be in one scene."
