Vanessa Hudgens' dad dies, but she still plans to perform in FOX's 'Grease'

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Actress Vanessa Hudgens announced via Twitter Sunday that her father has died of cancer.

"I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers," she tweeted. "Tonight, I do the show in his honor."

The 27-year-old Gigi and High School Musical alum is scheduled to star in a live musical staging of Grease Sunday evening on FOX. She will play bad-girl Rizzo opposite Julianne Hough's Sandy and Aaron Tveit's Danny.
