CHICAGO, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Oprah Winfrey is bringing tears to eyes and a message of hope in a new emotional ad for Weight Watchers.

The 60-second commercial features the television mogul speaking directly to the camera about her struggles with weight loss and how now is time to start exercising and eating healthy.

"Inside every overweight woman is a woman she knows she can be. Many times you look in the mirror and you don't even recognize your own self because you got lost, buried in the weight that you carry," Oprah says in the spot.

"Nothing you've ever been through is wasted. So every time I tried and failed, every time I tried again, and every time I tried again, has brought me to this most powerful moment to say, 'If not now, when?'"

The ad marks Oprah's debut as spokesperson for the company after she used the program starting in August to lose 20 pounds. "Why I joined Weight Watchers. Come Join Me. Let's do this together," Winfrey wrote on Twitter Tuesday alongside the video.

In October, Winfrey bought a 10 percent stake in Weight Watchers as membership numbers and stock prices have dwindled. "Our overall recruitment is down," Chief Executive James Chambers said during the company's November third-quarter earnings call. "We have struggled to add members in recent years [even though] obesity is a growing problem."

As the New York Post reports, Weight Watchers is moving its focus away from dieting to better emphasize fitness and overall well-being.
