SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Kristin Cavallari's older brother, Michael Cavallari, was found dead Thursday. The 28-year-old designer confirmed as much in a statement to news outlets, thanking fans for their "love, support and prayers during this very difficult time."

"We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found," the star said. "This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."
The Utah medical examiner's office told E! News "a body was found and transported" to their Salt Lake City office. Michael Cavallari's car was discovered abandoned Nov. 27 in Utah, and his family reported him missing Dec. 5.
Sources told the website the 30-year-old had a troubled history and was always surrounded by "a lot of drama." He was arrested just days before his disappearance for making criminal threats, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department records.
"I appreciate all the concern, thoughts, and prayers that have been extended to me and my family," Cavallari captioned a throwback photo with her brother Monday. "I have such gratitude for all those that have shared their support."
Cavallari came to fame on MTV reality series The Hills, and has since turned her focus to fashion design. She and Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler married in 2013, and share 3-year-old son Camden, 19-month-old son Jax and 3-week-old daughter Saylor.
