MIAMI, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Peta Murgatroyd showed off her engagement ring next to fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The 29-year-old Australian and 35-year-old American professional dancers attended the Sway Alfalit Gala in Miami on Saturday, just hours after getting engaged. Chmerkovskiy proposed onstage following their performance in Sway: A Dance Trilogy at the Olympia Theater.

"I can't tell you how happy I am," Murgatroyd told Us Weekly at the gala. "I was completely shocked. I'm just overwhelmed with it all right now."

The Australian dancer was all smiles as she flashed her custom Cantamessa diamond ring on the red carpet. She also put the sparkler on display in a selfie with Olympia Theater creative director Nicole Volynets on Instagram.

"This is one human being who has literally changed my life," she captioned the photo. "To put it quite simply... @nicolevolynets I couldn't live without you, you're officially my sister #love #imengaged."

Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy met through ABC reality competition Dancing with the Stars, and first dated in 2013. The Australian dancer confirmed they were back together in May, telling Radar Online, "He's the most generous man I have ever met, and I'm very happy."

Murgatroyd has appeared on Dancing since Season 13, but was forced to sit out Season 21 due to injury. Chmerkovskiy last competed in Season 18, winning with ice dancer Meryl Davis, and returned as a guest judge in Season 21.
