Josh Hartnett, girlfriend Tamsin Egerton welcome first child

LONDON, Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Josh Hartnett and girlfriend Tamsin Egerton have welcomed their first child.

The 37-year-old American actor and 27-year-old English actress were spotted leaving St. Mary's Hospital in London with their newborn in a baby carrier Tuesday.

Hartnett and Egerton met on the set of The Lovers in 2010 and announced the actress was expecting in July. The couple take care to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, as Hartnett told USA Today in May.

"I purposefully didn't want people to know too much about my personal life because I think a lot of people give it away for free," he said. "I think it you spend too much time courting people's attention into your personal life, you lose ownership of it. That's why I make sure my life is my own."

Hartnett plays Ethan Chandler on Showtime series Penny Dreadful, which will return for a third season in 2016, and is slated for The Long Home with Josh Hutcherson. Egerton will next star in Grimsby with Sacha Baron Cohen and Mark Strong.
