LOS ANGELES, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- The new trailer for Marvel's Captain America: Civil War was released and with it the first images of the expected battle between the Captain and his former team mate, Iron Man.

The hotly anticipated sequel is the latest saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was unveiled late Tuesday by stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The movie uses superheros to explore the highly topical question of liberty versus security.

Normal humans and governments have become tense about a world full of people with super powers and the destruction they often cause. So Tony Stark/Iron Man leads a plan to keep superheroes under close supervision. Captain America/Steve Rogers isn't interested. Especially while he is helping his childhood friend Bucky Barnes recover from the brainwashing that made him the villain the Winter Soldier. Every Marvel hero is expected to make an appearance in the film, choosing a side.

Captain America: Civil War opens nationwide May 6, 2016.
